In Q3 2021, the top five News and Magazines apps on Android in South Africa demonstrated diverse performance trends. Data from Sensor Tower reveals noteworthy fluctuations in weekly downloads and active users.

Opera News: breaking & local saw substantial activity. Weekly downloads initially fluctuated, peaking at approximately 22.3K in the last week of September. Active users experienced a slight decline from around 347.7K at the start of the quarter but rebounded to 376.1K by the end.

Opera News Lite - Less Data exhibited a downward trend in both downloads and active users. Downloads dropped from about 20.4K in early July to just over 3.2K by the end of September. Active users mirrored this decline, starting at 103.5K and falling to around 83.4K.

South Africa Breaking News showed a significant drop in downloads, from 37.8K in mid-July to approximately 3.4K by late September. Active users also decreased, starting at 30.6K and ending the quarter at roughly 17.6K.

The National Lottery Results app maintained consistent weekly downloads, averaging around 9K to 10K, with a slight dip to 7.5K in late September. Active users remained relatively stable, hovering around 96K to 102K throughout the quarter.
